Health Department Description

The Health Department consists of two full-time registered environmental health specialists and a part-time secretary.  The Board of Health contracts for the services of health educator, public health nurses and health officer.  The Health Department administers the health regulations in Harding, including septic and well regulations, health clinics, health inspections, communicable disease local response and tracking, and animal management (control and licensing).

Board of Health page

A presentation entitled "Water, water, water" on the importance of water supply and waste water disposal in land use and planning has been prepared by Garry Annibal and will be presented at the June Board of Health meeting.  It can be seen here.

All clinics are open to Harding residents who are at least 18 years old.  There is no fee but appointments are required.  Please schedule by calling 972-267-8000 x 1968.

Adult vaccines such as herpes zoster (shingles) and Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, pertussis) are being offered free for people who are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover the vaccines.   These vaccines are being offered to all Morris County residents.  Appointments can be made by calling the Randolph Health Department at 973-537-7118.

PNEUMONIA IMMUNIZATION:  If you are interested in a Pneumonia immunization and you are a resident 65 and older and have not received one in the past, please call 973-267-8000 x 1974 to make an appointment.

Dog Licenses:  License issuing begins in January and dogs should be licensed prior to March 1 or late charges will apply. 2013 Dog License Form.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG DISPOSAL: To properly dispose of unused or expired medicines:

  • Mark out personal information on the prescription bottles
  • Mix liquid medicine with substances like coffee grinds, cat litter or soil
  • Dilute pills with water and add to coffee grinds, cat litter or soil
  • Place bottles in an opaque container (coffee can, yogurt container, etc)
  • Mix the container in the trash.
  • Do NOT flush down the drain
  • Do NOT share medicines with others
  • Do NOT recycle containers or medicines

The Madison Pharmacy will take back unused prescription drubs as long as they are not controlled substances such as narcotics.  The Pharmacy is located at 66 Main Street, Madison or go to www.madisonpharmacy.com
