This is an important message from Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L). The company has activated its storm restoration plan in anticipation of the developing winter weather conditions and forecasts for snow, sleet and freezing rain in portions of its service area.
Crews from other FirstEnergy operating companies as well as contractor crews are being mobilized to assist with restoration efforts if needed. Arrangements have been made to move crews to northern New Jersey where icing conditions are expected to occur.
Customers who are without power are encouraged to call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report their outage or click the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com. In the event of severe weather, customers should immediately report downed wires to their utility or their local police or fire department. Customers should never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled in trees or other debris.
The JCP&L Incident Command Team will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide additional updates.
